The Lime Envelope appointed to organise SAMRA Conference again in 2008

Following the enormous success and superb organisation of the 2007 SAMRA Conference, The Lime Envelope has been contracted to organise the 2008 SAMRA Conference.

The 2008 SAMRA Conference will take place at the Royal Swazi Sun in Swaziland’s Ezulwini Valley from the 27th to the 28th of May.

Kerry Oliver, SAMRA Conference Manager for The Lime Envelope, says “The theme of the 2008 SAMRA Conference is ‘new’ – challenging researchers to bring something different to the conference, and what could be more different than taking the SAMRA Conference across South Africa ’s borders and into another Southern African country for the first time in more than twenty years. The Royal Swazi Sun will lend a uniquely African flavour to next year’s conference, and we are certain that our experience will contribute to making sure that the conference runs just as smoothly and is just as successful as it was in 2007.”

The Royal Swazi Sun’s sweeping verandas, large oak trees and wide open spaces make this a picturesque venue, and the combination of Swazi hospitality and state of the art conference facilities make it an ideal venue for the 2008 SAMRA Conference.

According to Sarah Martin, Director of The Lime Envelope, “Over the past few years we have built a really great relationship with the marketing and marketing research media, which has resulted in great coverage of the SAMRA Conference. Last year, taking over the organisation of the conference enabled us to take this to a whole new level, as we were able to take the media’s needs into account from the word go. We hope to build on this yet further in 2008, and are certain that the cross-border nature of the conference will enable us to achieve international as well as local coverage of the conference.”

The Lime Envelope celebrates a successful SAMRA Conference

The 2007 SAMRA Conference, which took place at the Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch on the 24th and 25th of May, was one of SAMRA’s most successful conferences to date, with 170 delegates from all over Africa in attendance.

Stellenbosch’s winter weather was not able to dampen the delegates’ spirits, with each evening of the conference filled with delicious food, lots of Spier wine, roaring log fires and chances for delegates to catch up with old friends and make a few new ones. The gala dinner on the final night of the conference was vividly decorated in both the earthy and bright colours of Southern Africa , and saw delegates being entertained by MC, Terry Murphy, and storyteller, Gcina Mhlope-Becker, before the awards ceremony.

According to SAMRA Conference Head, Suzanne Broadley, “Spier provided the backdrop for a really successful conference. The combination of the venue, great weather, super guest speakers and well facilitated sessions, as well as the substantial number of delegates (up to and including even the very last paper!) really underpinned the clear passion that this industry has.

Shirley Benney, Chair of SAMRA, says “The professionalism of the selection and judging of the papers and the high standard of the papers presented has set the scene for future conferences. I hope this will create a buzz in the industry and so raise the standards even further going forward.

"The conference ran smoothly from start to finish thanks to superb organisation by The Lime Envelope, and the comments that we received from both delegates and the media were not only very positive but also indicated that this was the best SAMRA Conference yet," says Kerry Oliver, who managed the SAMRA Conference for The Lime Envelope.

The Lime Envelope celebrates a successful year with 'Urban Sundowners' at Melrose Arch

On Tuesday the 28th of November 2006, The Lime Envelope celebrated a successful 2006 with clients and friends from the media with stylish 'urban sundowners' at the Obert Contemporary Gallery in Melrose Arch.

The 'urban sundowners' captured the essence of The Lime Envelope's 'out of the envelope' thinking... a funky venue with an art exhibition that got everyone talking, simple, elegant lime decor, the sounds of Café del Mar, a freely flowing bar that kept everyone talking, and deliciously creative finger food with a twist of lime that kept everyone going back for more.

The evening was a great opportunity for clients to meet the media, for the media to get to know The Lime Envelope a little better, and for great ideas for 2007 to be discussed.

The Lime Envelope boosts numbers at rAge with an extensive PR and advertising campaign

rAge, the ultimate computer, gaming and technology expo exploded into action at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg from the 29th of September to the 1st of October.

This was rAge’s fourth year of showcasing the most popular and cutting-edge computer and video games, technology, gadgets and products, and with 60% more floor space, the biggest ever gaming LAN in South Africa (1200 gamers), international gamers competing in the Quake 4 competition, the launch of the Xbox 360,a worldwide announcement from ATI, more than R 5 000 000 in media coverage, and more than 15 000 visitors to the expo, the expo was bigger and better than ever before.

The Lime Envelope embarked on an extensive PR and advertising campaign for rAge for four months prior to the event, across the mediums of online, print, radio and TV - which meant that, as one journalist put it, "If you have not heard about rAge the chances are that you have been stranded in a deserted cave in the Karoo somewhere".

This resulted not only in an increase of visitors to rAge, but also in the number of media who were interested in visiting and covering the event.

The Intel-sponsored Press Office, managed by The Lime Envelope, boasted an ADSL connection and a number of laptops, which meant that in addition to having a quiet area to conduct interviews and collate notes, media visitors to rAge were also able to submit their stories right from the venue.

The Lime Envelope organises Teljoy-sponsored 18th Birthday Party for Reach For A Dream

This July saw Reach For A Dream celebrating its 18th birthday, and with this in mind, Teljoy, a company that has been making dreams come true for over 30 years, sponsored a huge birthday party for the Reach For A Dream Foundation on Friday the 7th of July, organised by The Lime Envelope.

“Helping children believe in the power of their dreams” is the objective of the Reach For A Dream Foundation, and, since its inception, it has been successfully giving hope and encouragement to more than 6300 children a year (of all income groups, races and creeds) in their fight against life-threatening illnesses.

At the party, in addition to Teljoy's fulfilling a number of individual dreams, over 150 children and their families enjoyed a day of helicopter rides, fire engine rides, carnival fun and other activities.

A number of South African celebrities, including Danny K, PJ Powers, Andre Nel, Baby Jake Matlala, Claudia Henkel, Mo the Vodacom Mascot, and the Smarties Man, attended the party, spending some time with their young fans and bringing smiles to many young faces.
